Overview
Ultrasonic inspection of safety critical components in aerospace sector with a view to automate the system at the commercialisation stage according to standards. This is critical when it comes to the inspection of new materials used it aircrafts to light-weighting. Ultrasonic inspection is a family of non-destructive testing techniques based on the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the object or material tested. In most common UT applications, ultrasonic pulse-waves with centre frequencies ranging from 0.1-15 MHz are transmitted into materials to detect internal flaws or to characterize materials. AeroNDT project focus on the following,
•Aircraft Lugs – critical parts
•Design – damage tolerant (FAR/JAA)
•Failure – catastrophic consequences
•Reliability – cost of ownership/operation
